About the event
Exhibition: Hope is a Waking Dream | Artworks by Robert Williams | 30 & 31 January 2027 | 10-4pm
Over 70 pieces of new visual art have been created. These are conceptually rigorous, expressive, hand-crafted collages, mosaics and prints. In addition, creative people’s stories, regarding their responses to the rising influence of divisive narratives, will be exhibited (as text) alongside the three forms of visual art.
As a whole, the project is intended to be Modern, reflexive and optimistic in exploring hope, diversity and equity, for example, as creative resistance to the increasing influence of dehumanising racist, and even fascist, ideas within our communities.
Recycling papers, plywood, wool, textiles, bandages, OSB, card, curtains and other materials to create collages, upon which I then printed, all allows exploration of social connectedness (but also fragmentation). The mosaics are also created by hand: cutting, sanding and mark making on recycled, stained and painted glass.
