Service Description

For those who have already woven a basket or two and would like to develop their skills further, this four-week progressive course offers the chance to explore more advanced willow weaving techniques in a relaxed and inspiring setting. Over four creative mornings, you’ll work with locally grown willow to refine your basketmaking skills, experiment with new techniques and forms, and enjoy the rewarding process of creating a more ambitious handwoven basket or sculptural willow piece. With plenty of time to practise and personalise your work, this course is ideal for weavers wanting to build confidence, improve technique and deepen their understanding of this traditional heritage craft. Over the four weeks you could: Week 1: Weave a round or oval basket base Week 2: Stake up the sides and learn a 3-rod wale Week 3: Explore decorative side weave patterns Week 4: Finish with a border, handle, or strap Enjoy a friendly small-group atmosphere with time to experiment, share ideas, and immerse yourself in the calming rhythm of willow weaving. Outcome: A unique handcrafted willow basket / sculptural piece to take home, alongside new techniques, greater confidence and a mindful creative journey. Maximum of 8 participants.
