Paper Voices
Saturday 28 February | 13:00 - 16:00 | Lucy Parrott & Sophie Clausen
Join Lucy Parrott and Sophie Clausen for a creative writing and collage workshop exploring the theme of Ikigai. Ikigai is a Japanese concept meaning your reason for being; what gives your life meaning, joy, and purpose. Through gentle, guided writing, you’ll explore what truly nourishes you and gain deeper insight into what matters most in your life. From these words, you’ll move into hands-on making. You’ll learn how to mask a single large piece and transform it into six expressive images, using a rich mix of materials including watercolour, ink, pens and charcoal. No writing or art experience is needed - just curiosity and openness. This workshop offers a chance to pause, create and listen to the quieter parts of yourself that often get overlooked in the busyness of everyday life. You’ll leave with a unique piece of art that speaks in your own voice and serves as a gentle reminder of what brings you joy. Together, we’ll combine the magic of words and art to conjure something deeply personal, playful and true Lucy Parrott is a poet, experienced teacher and writing workshop leader. She creates spaces where writing becomes more than words on a page, approaching the craft as an act of renewal, self-expression and discovery. She helps people of all levels find their voice, release what no longer serves and write open heartedly towards clarity, connection and new beginnings. Sophie Clausen is a visual artist and designer, having worked as Senior Graphic Designer and Exhibitions Designer for the RSC, amongst others. She believes in the transformative power of art and feels passionately about encouraging people to artistically express themselves. The workshop runs for 3 hours including a break. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available. Adult price is £45. Concession price is £35 (for students and people on no or low income). Please email brookartshub@gmail.com with any queries.
