Introduction to Natural Fabric Dyeing

Join us for Introduction to Natural Fabric Dyeing Workshop, a full day workshop taught by Helen Hughes, owner of The Natural Dye Shed. Helen has worked as a Theatrical Dyer in the Theatre for over 30 years and has worked with Natural Dyes in her artistic practice since 2020. In this workshop you’ll learn how to prepare fabrics for dyeing. You will then prepare three different vats with Madder root, Weld leaves and Coreopsis flowers which we’ll use to dye a selection of pretreated fabrics. At the end of the workshop you’ll have your own set of samples and a booklet outlining the process so that you can continue experimenting at home. All materials, as well as refreshments, are included in the price. You're welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit The Garden Cafe across the road. This workshop needs a minimum of 5 people to run. Brook Arts Hub is fully accessible with easy parking and located in Shottery (next door to Anne Hathaway’s Cottage).
