Creative Writing Course

Service Description

Are you new to creative writing, or are you an experienced writer, looking for inspiration and a like minded group? Cathy and Connie work together to share their love of writing with enthusiastic students. In this set of eight workshops, they will cover fiction, memoir and poetry, using writing prompts, in-class discussion, and the work of contemporary writers. You will learn useful writing techniques and ways to conquer the blank page. The atmosphere will be friendly and constructive. You will finish the course having completed a number of pieces of writing. Cathy is a widely published poet and has won a number of poetry competitions. She is currently working on a pamphlet of poems about growing up in the Lake District. She has a degree in Creative Writing and tutors in Creative Writing and Poetry at The Percival Guildhouse adult education centre in Rugby.  Connie is a published novelist. Her short stories and poems have appeared in magazines and anthologies in the UK and the US. She has a degree in Creative Writing, and teaches privately in Stratford upon Avon. She is currently working on her second novel, and a pamphlet of poems about Vincent Van Gough. Together Cathy and Connie have run creative writing summer schools and courses for Warwick University and The Percival Guildhouse in Rugby and The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. The course includes refreshments, and is located in the welcoming, fully accessible and heated Brook Arts Hub, where everyone is welcome.
